The Novogen Brown chicken was created in France in the mid 1990s. They are a brown bird with white under feathers. They produce brown eggs and are very capable of adapting to different environments. NovoGen brown chickens are docile in nature making management of the birds very easy. On average the hens in this breed can lay 395 eggs within the first 72 weeks of laying. The hens usually weigh about 4 pounds whereas the roosters average anywhere from 8 to 10 pounds in weight.
